Frequently Asked Questions

When is Induction?

Fall 2020 Induction date and time will be determined sometime in September.

I got an invitation, now what?

Congratulations on your academic achievement! Head over to the main Phi Theta Kappa website. Your emailed invitation will include a personal invitation code that can be entered on the main website to accept membership. Use the temporary pass code to complete an Application for Membership on the Phi Theta Kappa web site at ptk.org/join. There is a one time membership fee of $100.00 in order to join. Your certificate, pin, and ID card will be mailed to you at your home. Once membership is accepted, make plans to attend induction.

I didn't get an invitation, now what?

Each semester invitations to join the Beta Delta Iota chapter of Phi Theta Kappa are sent to eligible students via their my.lonestar.edu account . In order to be eligible for membership, students must complete 12 credit hours of non-developmental course work at Lone Star College-Montgomery with a GPA of 3.5 or higher.  If you believe you are eligible, but did not receive an invitation, please contact the chapter advisors at BetaDeltaIota@lonestar.edu and we will review your eligibility.

Why should I join Phi Theta Kappa?

Phi Theta Kappa is more than just a line on your resume! It is the opportunity to get involved in your community and to make a difference. We have regular member meetings which are open to everyone. Come, ask us what makes Phi Theta Kappa special, and get involved!

“The purpose of Phi Theta Kappa shall be to recognize and encourage scholarship among two-year college students. To achieve this purpose, Phi Theta Kappa shall provide opportunity for the development of leadership and service, for an intellectual climate for exchange of ideas and ideals, for lively fellowship for scholars, and for stimulation of interest in continuing academic excellence.”

Phi Theta Kappa's mission is two-fold: (1) recognize and encourage the academic achievement of two-year college students and (2) provide opportunities for individual growth and development through participation in honors, leadership, service and fellowship programming.

Through Phi Theta Kappa, members have access to a large community through which new friendships and connections can form. There are numerous scholarship opportunities, discounts, and benefits.
